Let’s talk school lunches!
My kids like to eat the same thing for lunch pretty much every day. So, I mix things up by adding various lunch accessories to their lunch boxes. Items such as cute and festive napkins, colored cupcake liners to hold snacks, lunch box notes and occasionally I’ll cut their sandwiches into cute shapes to keep things interesting for me and them.
I’ll switch the napkins, notes and sandwich cutters out depending on the season, and I always add birthday napkins with a special treat on their birthdays. It’s so simple but the kids love it!

Lunchbox Station
To simplify the daily routine, I have created an organization lunchbox station in our pantry. I included the following in our lunch box station:
- Bento box;
- Sandwich shape cutter;
- Silicone cups/ disposable baking cups;
- Festive napkins
- Sandwich and snack bags
- Plastic forks; and
- Plastic spoons
Keeping everything in one spot is a huge time saver in the morning, and my husband can easily step in and help.
Also, included in our lunch box station are lunch box note cards and post-it-notes. I print and cut note cards ahead of time and the post-it-notes are used for special reminders (e.g. “Pa is picking you up today”,” choir after school”, etc.).
Printable Lunch Box Notes
If you would like to add a little something special to your kid’s lunches, I’ve created a fun free printable with bright and colorful note cards for you to download. I find it’s the little things done daily that leave the biggest impact and lunch box notes are a perfect daily addition!
