DIY CRAYON LETTERS, STEP BY STEP GUIDE
1. Gather Your Crayons
Start by collecting old or broken crayons in a variety of colors. This is a fantastic way to repurpose unused crayons and give them a new life. Sort the crayons by color, or mix them up for a vibrant, rainbow effect. I use two to three colors per crayon letter.
2. Remove Wrappers and Break Crayons
Remove the wrappers from the crayons and break them into thirds. This step makes it easier to melt the crayons and fill the mold with colorful layers.
TIP: If you soak your crayons in warm water the paper wrappers will come off easier.
3. Fill the Mold
Fill the mold with your broken crayon pieces. Optional, I place glitter at the bottom of the letter mold before adding the crayons.
4. Melt Crayons
Preheat your oven to a low temperature, around 250°F (120°C). Place the silicone letter mold on a baking sheet for stability. Make sure all crayons have liquified before taking the mold out of the oven approximately 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them to prevent over-melting, which can result in muddy colors.
5. Cool Crayons in Mold
Remove the mold from the oven and let it cool completely. You can speed up the process by placing the mold in the freezer for about 5-7 minutes. Once the crayons have solidified, gently pop them out of the mold.
6. Package DIY Crayon Letters
Placing crayons letters in a rectangular cellophane bag or box and finish off with coordinating ribbon.
BOUNS STEP: Consider attaching the FREE (printable favor tag). This extra touch adds a special element to your DIY Valentine’s Day favors.
