I always try to think of fun crafts or activities that can double as a party favors when planning my children’s birthday parties. In this article, I’ll share with you how to make slime party favors that your guests can take home using my step-by-step recipe for non-toxic, kid-friendly unicorn slime.
Making slime is an extremely popular activity for kids right now. Not only is it so much fun, but it’s also super easy! My unicorn slime recipe lasts longer and will be less sticky, making it the perfect slime recipe for kids!
You’ve probably noticed that most DIY slime recipes you’ll find on Pinterest include ingredients that aren’t exactly ‘kid-friendly’. Many of these contain Borax, which can be toxic and can irritate sensitive skin.
I’ve been looking for a non-toxic alternative, and was thrilled when I came across Elmer’s Magical Liquid! Not only does this alternative replace the need for borax, but it’s also completely non-toxic. Now we can make slime at our parties without worrying about harsh chemicals.
Today, for our party favor craft, we’ll be making unicorn slime.
After each child has made their own batch of slime, have them place it in a sealed mason jar to take home. To take it up a notch, you can add matching ribbon along with a unicorn slime label. I’ve created a free printable for you to download the labels, which you’ll find at the end of this post.

Before we get started, gather the following supplies:
Supplies
Washable Clear Elmer’s Glue // Light Pink Glitter // Clear Glitter // Elmer’s Magical Liquid
Directions:
Step 1: Empty a 5 oz bottle of washable, non-toxic clear glue into a medium bowl.
Step 2: Add pink and white glitter to glue. We used 1 tablespoon of pink glitter and 3 tablespoons of clear glitter.
Step 3: Add Elmer’s Magical Liquid. The bottle suggests using 4 fluid oz, but we ended up using 6 oz, which made the slime less sticky.
Step 4: Use (little) hands to mix glue, glitter and Elmer’s Magical Liquid until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
Step 5: If you find that your slime is still a little sticky, continue to add Elmer’s Magical Liquid (slowly) until you have the desired consistency.
