In this post, I’ll be sharing how I use gift tags with Christmas cookie puns and simple packaging to transform store bought cookies into adorable and easy Christmas gifts for teachers, friends, and family.
I LOVE handing out treats to friends and family around Christmas time. Unfortunately, with all of the holiday hubbub, I don’t always get a chance to bake Christmas cookies. Don’t get me wrong, I do plenty of food prep in the kitchen around the holidays. In fact, I’ll be sharing a recipe for hot carrots next week. As busy moms, we sometimes just seem to run out of time!
This was especially true a couple of years ago. We were right in the middle of buying a new home, and also trying to get ready for Christmas. I wanted to make the last Christmas in our family’s first house special.
Sometime between putting up a mini Christmas tree in the kids’ room and boxing up our summer beach toys, I’d bake that triple batch of cookies to hand out.
But, as we got closer and closer to Christmas, I realized the whole cookie thing just wasn’t going to happen.
I wouldn’t let myself show up places empty handed. As a joke (sort of), I went to the grocery store and picked up a few packages of holiday Oreo’s. I tied a big bow and a Christmas cookie gift tag to each, then handed them out to friends and neighbors as proud as if I had baked them myself.
They were such a hit, I couldn’t believe it!
Fun Christmas Cookie Puns
I just love puns. I try to work them into as many of my printables and SVG designs as possible. For my Christmas tags this year, I really wanted to work in some funny cookie puns.
For the teachers at Madison and Jack’s schools, I’m handing out store bought ginger snaps packaged in mason jars. The tags will read “Oh, snap you’re one sweet teacher” and be attached using twine.
Because creating cookie gifts is as easy as repackaging using a mason jar, tying a cute bows around the top, and adding tags with cookie puns for teachers, I’m able to hand out cookies to so many more people! Not only are their current teachers receiving a jar this year, but also their teachers from previous years and some of our favorite staff around the school.
For my girlfriends, I wanted to do something funny and a little off color. I created “I put out (cookies) for Santa” tags. I know my girlfriends will get a big kick out of this, and its one of my favorite Christmas cookie puns.
If you would like to use funny and festive Christmas cookie puns on your tags, feel free to download the free printable below. Simple enter your information, and I’ll email you the PDF. Then print and cut out for your Chrismas cookie packaging.
If you have any funny cookie puns, let me know! I’d love to add them to next year’s set of cookie tags.
