Today I’m sharing my top three fonts for Christmas cake toppers. I’ll be sharing where to download the fonts for free. Tips for for designing your cake topper in Cricut Design Space and also which supplies create the best cake toppers.
Noel Cake Topper
Font Steps:
- Click text
- Type joy
- Change the font to watermelon script. (watermelon script is a free for personal use font that can be found at dafont.com. This is a beautiful font that works perfectly not only for cake toppers but for iron-on, vinyl and writing projects)
- Visit Dafont.com and search for watermelon script.
- Click download
- Open file and save ttf file onto your computer. The font will automatically be added to your font selection on Cricut Design Space once your computer has been restarted.
Design Steps:
- Weld all letters together by highlighting all individual letters and clicking weld.
- Add offset: The offset tool will add an additional layer to your design for added stability.
- Adjust size of design to fit on cake.
- My rule is to make the width of the design to be 1.5 inches smaller than the width of the cake. For example for an 8 inch round I would make the width of the cake topper 6.5 inches.
- Click make it.
Assembly Steps:
- Gather supplies
- Recollections glitter paper, food grade stick, craft glue and hot glue gun.
- Glue red noel design onto gold offset layer with craft glue.
- Glue food grade stick onto the back of your assembled design using hot glue.
- Place on cake and enjoy!

Joy Cake Topper
The next cake topper we’ll be making is the Joy cake topper.
Font Steps:
- Click text
- Type joy
- Change the font to hello. (hello is a free for personal use font that can be found at dafont.com.
- Visit Dafont.com and search for hello.
- Click download
- Open file and save ttf file onto your computer. The font will automatically be added to your font selection on Cricut Design Space once your computer has been restarted.

Merry Christmas Cake Topper

- Type joy
- Change the font to charlotte. (charlotte is a free for personal use font that can be found at dafont.com)
- Visit Dafont.com and search for charlotte.
- Click download
- Open file and save ttf file onto your computer. The font will automatically be added to your font selection on Cricut Design Space once your computer has been restarted.
Design Steps:
- Weld the letters of each word separately.
- Highlighting all individual letters of Christmas and click weld.
- Highlight all the individual letters of merry and click weld.
- Position merry over Christmas and click weld.
- Add offset: The offset tool will add an additional layer to your design for added stability.
- Adjust size of design to fit on cake.
- My rule is to make the width of the design to be 1.5 inches smaller than the width of the cake. For example for an 8 inch round I would make the width of the cake topper 6.5 inches.
- Click make it.
