These DIY pool noodle lightsabers are sure to be a huge hit at your next Star Wars party!
Our Jack turned 4 this year and since Jack loves Star Wars, we threw him a “May the 4th be with you” party! We celebrated at a local park that had a splash pad, so pool noodle lightsabers were the perfect party favor. The kids had so much fun running around in the water with their lightsabers at the party and Jack is still playing with his weeks later!
Supplies needed:
Pool noodle // tape measure // black sharpie // scissors // silver duct tape
Directions:
STEP ONE: Use your tape measure to measure 16.5 inches from one end, mark with sharpie and cut. This will divide the pool noodle into 3 equal segments.
STEP TWO: Wrap duct tape around the bottom end of the cut pool noodle. Use 3 strips of tape, and moving upward, overlapping slightly.
STEP THREE: Use a black sharpie to draw your design lightsaber handle on the duct tape. Get creative with your designs!
BONUS STEP: Add a “May the force be with you” party favor tag to each little jedi’s lightsaber!
I’ve created a printable you can download for free – simply enter your name and email below. After printing the pdf on white cardstock, cut out each tag, punch a hole in the corner, and attach to the pool noodle lightsaber using string or ribbon.
Lightsaber pool noodle game idea:
The object of the game is to keep a balloon from hitting the ground using your lightsaber. The last child to have their balloon in the air wins! Give each child a pool noodle light saber and a blown up balloon; you can use any kind of balloon, but I found some fun Star Wars balloons on Amazon for Jack’s party.
If you’re planning on playing this game outside, make sure to take weather into consideration. I was so excited to play this game with the kids as Jack’s party but unfortunately, it was too windy.
If you have any other game ideas using the lightsaber pool noodles, please leave them in the comments below!
I’m sure this won’t be our last Star Wars party!
