This post shares how to make a gingerbread house cake topper using Cricut.
Today I’m sharing how to make a gingerbread house cake topper using Cricut that are sure to add the perfect touch of Christmas to any cake or centerpiece this holiday season.
When it comes to Christmas decor for my home and parties, I always gravitate towards a traditional look and design. I love reds, green, gold, and navy. I’m a sucker for a good plaid and gingerbread houses are ALWAYS a must.
There’s something about a beautiful gingerbread house that just feels magical. So this year, I wanted to create a gingerbread house cake topper that could help add a little magic to any cake this holiday season.

After selecting the above gingerbread house designs, complete the following steps for each house.
STEP 1: Duplicate the house and hide it for the moment by clicking the eye icon.
STEP 2: Click shapes and select shapes that completely fill your gingerbread house.
STEP 3: Once house is completely filled, highlight the whole thing and click weld. (Now we have a solid house)
STEP 4: Bring back the duplicated house. (House with design)
STEP 5: Change color of house with design to make it more visible and change “arrange” position to front.
STEP 6: Duplicate the solid house and move to side to be use later.
STEP 7: Highlight the solid and decretive house and click slice.
- You will be left with three houses, only keep the one with the solid door.
STEP 8: Change decretive house to white and solid house to brown.
STEP 9: Layer the white house onto the brown and move onto the next house
GINGERBREAD HOUSE CAKE TOPPER ASSEMBLY
STEP 1: Cut out solid house on brown chipboard and white decretive house on white glitter iron-on.
- MAKE SURE TO MIRROR YOUR IRON-ON DESIGN WHEN CUTTING
STEP 2: Weed iron-on design leaving only the outline of the designs.
STEP 3: Use your Cricut Easy Press Mini on the lowest setting to iron on the white decretive house onto the brown chipboard house.
STEP 4: Use hot glue to attach food grade sticks to the back of the gingerbread houses.
BOUNUS STEP: Add decorative ribbon to finish off your cake toppers.
These gingerbread houses would not only work great for cake toppers and centerpieces, but can easily be made into gift tags as well. To create gift tags simply skip step 4, punch a small hole at the top and add ribbon.
